The correct answer is A. Section 1 of the Trustee Act 2000 sets out the duty of care which trustees owe towards beneficiaries. A trustee must exercise such care and skill as is reasonable in the circumstances, having regard in particular to any special knowledge or experience that they have or hold themselves out as having and, if they act as trustee in the course of a business or profession (i.e., as a professional trustee), to any special knowledge or experience that it is reasonable to expect of a person acting in the course of that kind of business or profession.

Key Point: Professional trustees are held to a higher standard of care under the Trustee Act 2000, reflecting their expertise and the expectations of their role in managing trust affairs.
